Ella's Quote of the Week

Ella had her three year check up today (yes I'm a little late, I forgot that they needed a three year check). She had to have to shots. She did great she didn't really cry she just fussed a little and she got a great check up from the Doctor. The rest of the day when ever she saw somebody she would go hobbling up to them and say "I got shot today".

What have I done!!

The "Fundoers"

What did I get myself into. Let me explain. Last year I felt bad that Mike wasn't running couple races or team races with all of our friends because his wife (me) didn't run. So I thought it was time for me to get off my butt and do something about it. Last fall I typed into the computer how to start running. Remember I'm now 32 and I have never ran except in 8th grade they made us run for 12 minutes around the gym for a test but that was my running career. Now I didn't tell anyone that I was secretly running down on our treadmill for fear of stuff like this happening. Mike came home one morning and caught me on the treadmill from there it was all over. The next thing I knew we were signed up to run a relay race, the Red Rock Moab. We ended up with two 6 person teams. Each person would run to legs totaling 70 miles.

When we pulled into Moab it really hit me that this race was tomorrow and I was running it. I felt sick to my stomach. I'm glad we have such great friends that are so sweet and supportive. This is me, Tori and Kelly bright and early waiting for the race to start. Kelly showed me how to stretch out and get warmed up. Down on my treadmill I just walk for a minute then I start to run. Nothing fancy, but Troy was a great running mate he made sure that everyone was hydrated and stretched out.

I was the first runner on our team so I got to start the race off. I'm glad I was first my nerves were killing me. My first leg was 5.5 miles. I did it!! I survived and I ran it in better time then I was hopping for so I was proud of that. My second leg was a killer! It was 2.7 miles up hill switch back after switch back. I was so excited to see the vans at the top of that hill / mountain. Mike did awesome on his races. They were rated some of the hardest legs his first one was 5.32 up hill and his second one was7.32 up the down. I knew that he would smoke them, I'm not sure if he is all human. He ran so fast and with ease. I was so proud of him. If only it could be that easy for me.

We had a great team. We had tons of laughs, lots of support. Oh and Yes, there was lots of Monster drinks (thanks to Mike and Troy).

Both teams, Michelle, Amy, Jared, Carrie, Bruce, Taunya, Brian, Tori, Troy, Kelly, Mike and Keri

Spring Recital

Adelynn and Nyah had their spring recital today.
As much as Adelynn hates going to dance each week she sure loves to perform. Even before the lights came on you could tell which one was Adelynn she was lighting up the stage.

Adelynn did such a great job on her dance. She was beaming and looked like a little angel on stage.

Nyah danced three of her dances tonight. It was her company recital so she has two more to go. She did great. Her lyrical dance made me cry. I don't know how man times I've seen her perform that dance but for some reason tonight it made me cry.
Thank you girls for sharing your talents it brings me such joy to watch you girls dance.

Spring Flowers

I've decided today after planting some flowers next to my tulips that I like working in the yard. This just might be because I feel like I've got more control outside versus inside. You see I work so hard to clean my front room. I then walk out of the room to start another room when I return to the front room it looks like a tornado has gone threw it all the hours of hard work has gone down the drain. Outside I planted the flowers it looked gorgeous I came back outside several hours later and it was still gorgeous. Yes I think I'm going to like working in the yard this year!

Easter

The Easter Bunny had come!!!

For the past few years the Easter Bunny has hidden the girls Easter baskets. Alyse was the first one to find her basket ( it was hidden on the sofa in plan site). She was so excited! She started shoveling the candy into her mouth.

Ella found hers next with the help of Adelynn. Ella too was so excited. She loves doing little projects and as you can see she got hooked up with some play doe.

Adelynn soon found hers. She was happy to find that she got a new scooter. She said that Easter Bunny almost tricked her it was hidden under the counter on top of the stool.

I think poor Nyah was beginning to think that the Easter Bunny had forgotten her. It took Nyah awhile to find hers. It was hidden in the TV cabinet. The girls had a fun morning.

I just love this picture. Yes I realize that some are blinking and some aren't looking but I think it just shows so much of each of their personalities. I love it! I love Easter Dresses. They still don't mind being dressed the same. I'm sure it won't be to much longer before Nyah wants no part in the "twiner" dresses. The little ones still get a kick out of have the same outfit as one of their sisters.

After church we went to our friends the Gunn's for dinner and a Easter Egg hunt. Their hunt was so exciting. Gary had purposely not mowed part of the lawn so the grass was just long enough that the kids couldn't just see the eggs. Not only that there was money inside some of those eggs the girls loved this.

Here is Nyah sporting her bunny teeth.
We had such a great Easter weekend with family and friends that are family. We are so grateful that Christ died for us and was resurrected so that we too can some day live with our families.

Easter Fun

On Saturday we had Mike's family over for some fun Easter activities and Dinner. We started with coloring eggs. The kids love this even Alyse had fun. She would dunk it in the color then lick it off. I think she likes vinegar!?

While the kids colored eggs Uncle Mark and Aunt Tiffany snuck outside to hide eggs. We let the little kids go out first. They found their seven eggs, then we sent the big kids out their eggs were a little harder to find.

We ended the party with a yummy dinner thanks to Aunt Melanie. What a great way to spend the Saturday before Easter.

Springbreak

This year for Spring break I knew that we had to do something fun. In years past it has been cold and it has even snowed so I knew just sticking around the house hoping for some fun in the sun was not going to happen. Mike had to work, so a large vacation was out. I decided I would be brave and take a road trip to Idaho to see family. My Dad was already down for the weekend so we could care a van home, making it easier if I had to stop with all the little ones.

We thought it would be fun to bring Kaia along to visit family too. The last few times that we have went to Idaho the girls have begged Grandpa to get out all my old barbies. He finally caved in and found the box. The girls had so much fun pulling everything out. I helped them set up all the fun things. I must say I had forgotten what a anal child I was. Everything was divided up and put in little baggies oh and what 7 or 8 year old child saves the directions on how to put the mall together. I love that I was that way. I have really had to relax sense I've had kids so it was great to see all my old ways.

I got to tell you I was happy to have the directions when I was putting that mall together. The girls had so much fun playing with all my old barbie toys. It was fun to see them enjoying something that I too once loved!

We were lucky enough to be in Idaho on my Dad's 61 Birthday. We celebrated it at my Mom's care center so that she could be involved.

It was so nice to see my Mom again. I have really missed her! She looked really good and I could understand almost everything that she was saying. I loved the look on her face when we first got there. I'm not sure if she remembered we were coming or if she was just surprised. Her face lit up with so much joy. I loved just being next to her and cuddling up to her. In life there is nothing like being next to your mom, no matter how old I get I still love that feeling of love and comfort I get being with my Mom.

We also got to go see my Grandparents while we were in town. I love going to my Grandparents house I have so many fun memories there. My kids had so much fun at Great Grandma and Grandpas too. They love all their toys and all the little treats Grandma feeds them. Alyse love Grandma and Grandpa's dogs. She screamed and shook with joy any time the dogs moved and of course she chased them all around the house.

While we were at my Grandparents house my aunt Susan and my aunt Kim and her kids came by to say hi. It was so nice to be able to see everyone and get to visit with them for a little while. Family is so important and it's hard living away from them.

After four days of fun in Idaho it was time to head home to spend the last few days of spring break with Dad.

Yes Dad took the girls swimming. I sat on the side and watch the kids play and took Nyah down the water slide. The kids were freezing yet they were determined to keep swimming. We also had movie nights and slumber parties. I think we pulled off a great spring break even in the cold.
